This is a very easy there and back trail. From the carpark head through the open gate along a metalled road. It is a private estate road but the public are welcome to use it on foot and bikes. The road takes you under the famous viaduct and then carry straight on up the glen ignoring any side forestry roads. At the top of the glen you can see Glenfinnan Lodge, ride towards it but once you get to the bottom of the hill, turn right once over the bridge towards the small bothy.
You can either turn around at this point (after stopping for some packed lunch!), and head back to the carpark or carry on past the bothy along the stony track. This path will eventually reach Strathan at the far West end of Loch Arkaig, but this is definitely not a trip to be undertaken lightly. Why not carry part of the way up the glen until the top of a pass is reached with great views down the wild glen through which you have cycled.
