The Nevis Red Trail, with gondola uplift, was opened on Wednesday 24 June 2009.
Starting at 643m at the base of the Quad chair (for those of you that ski or board here) the new 5.5km trail winds its way across Aonach Mor's awesome mountainscape. The newly built part of the trail ends at (gondola) Tower 8. There, you cross the downhill and join the forest road, then cut back on the puggy line, finishing down the sandy brae into the carpark. Enjoy and let us know what you think! Starting at 643m, with a vertical drop of 543m, it finishes at 100m in the Nevis Range carpark.
Its a steep, rugged & tough wide single track, a mixture of timber boardwalk, bedrock, gravel, rock gardens with berms, rock steps, jumps, drops, and gap jumps. You'll need to be a proficient and fitter mountian bikers with good off road riding skills. Best to use a better quality off road mountain bike, plus wear your helmet, gloves and protective clothing.
Gondola uplift for bikes is available from 10.15am - 3.45pm and is available from mid May to Mid September. Prices are published on the Nevis Range website. During the season, the trail may be closed on certain days for races, track maintenance, or bad weather days. Where possible details are published in advance on the Nevis Rnge website or call Nevis Range on 01397 705825.
